The final, and arguably most important, activity at the Idaho Conference on Recreation and Tourism is the recognition of individuals and groups whose efforts to promote Idaho’s tourism and recreation resources are felt to be exceptional by their peers. Nine Governor’s Take Pride in Idaho awards were given out this year:
The Outstanding Tourism Community Award was given to the 1910 Fire Commemoration in Historic Wallace and the Silver Valley. A full century has passed since the great fires of 1910 consumed thousands of acres of forest, too many lives, and devastated the town of Wallace.
